Two teams stuck in a battle for second place in the North American Soccer League ended fittingly as the NSC Minnesota Stars remained unbeaten at home in 2011 with a 1-1 draw against FC Edmonton. Shaun Saiko put Edmonton ahead in the 14th minute to give the visitors a halftime lead that could have been worse for the Stars but for two hit posts for Edmonton. The Stars made a formation change at halftime and responded well, though, dominating the second period and tying the game with Neil Hlavaty’s 62nd-minute penalty kick.
